The Rules
|
1. Each "season" of the A-H-M-H Death Pool will last exactly six months, beginning on the day of the completion of the draft. |
2. The draft will take place over E-mail between the players. |
3. Draft order will be selected at random, with priority chance given to the fourth-place finisher from the year before and on up.
A. Each player will have a pre-determined number of "balls" in the lottery (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.)
B. A random number generator will assign numbers to each ball, lowest number earns the first pick on down.
|
4. Each player must draft a total of 25 people, including a set number of people in each of seven categories as follows:
- Stage/Screen (6)
- Music (6)
- World Leaders/Politics (4)
- Sports (3)
- Religion (2)
- Golden Girl (1)
- Wild Card (3)
|
5. Stage/Screen - This category includes any actors, directors, screenwriters, composers, etc. who have contributed either in theater, television or movies. |
6. Music - This category includes any performers, producers, writers, etc. that have contributed in a musical field. |
7. World Leaders/Politics - This category includes any heads of state, activist, politician, radical islamic militant who has become well know as such. |
8. Sports - This category includes any athlete, coach, owner, etc. who is known for their work in the area of sports. |
9. Religion - This category includes any preacher, religion founder, cultic nutjob, etc. |
10. Golden Girl - Each player will draft one of the four golden girls (Estelle Getty, Bea Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan). |
11. Wild Card - This category will be used for anyone who does not fit into one of the above fields (i.e. an author, leader of medicine, socialite) or someone who does fit into one of the above fields, if a player has already filled their allotment in said category. |
12. The Dick Clark Rule - It is up to the player to designate what category a person will be placed in AT THE TIME OF THE SELECTION. Certain people could be considered for multiple categories, so it could be to your strategical advantage to select them for one category over another (i.e. Dick Clark might be a better pick in Music, because there are less old-farts to choose from then in the Stage/Screen category). |
13. The Doohan Rule - Should someone's pick expire during the draft, the player has the option to immediately redraft a pick or take 1/2 a point for that person. |
13. The Winner will be the player who has picked the most correctly identified dead people by the end of the season. |
14. The Courtney Love Rule - Should two people finish with the same number of deaths, the tiebreaker shall be as follows: Each person is assigned a point total which will be 100 minus persons age. (i.e. Dick Clark is 75, 100-75=25, Dick Clark is worth 25 points). All persons over the age of 100 are worth zero in regards to the tiebreaker. Courtney Love would by worth 59 points. |
15. The Skitch Henderson Rule - It is the responsibility of each player to notify the group when someone on their list has died. This is crucial for some of the more obscure picks we come up with that might not make national headlines. |
